Today marks the 274th birthday of King George III and 2-5 June 2012 marks the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth 2.
How auspicious is this? There cannot be a better time to begin this adventure and not a better way to honor this historic event of Captain George Vancouver and the HMS Discovery exploring the inland waters of the Salish Sea and of Lt.Peter Puget's exploration of the southern waters, now known as Puget Sound. As we honor these great explorers, I know that we are receiving blessing from above for the timing of these sacred events that are currently taking place. With King George III supporting us from the rears of time and Queen Elizabeth 2 leading us into the future, Shatoosh, Pashmina, Skol 2, along with their Commanders, Hira and Too Tall Tom will have a wonderful exploration of their own.

While most of these waters are known to Hira, they are new to Too Tall. We are going to have lots of fun. Just as we honored and traveled the sacred waters of the Lewis and Clark Corps of Discovery Expedition, Too Tall and Hira will travel in the Wake of Lt. Peter Puget and have a new found reverence for these waters, as well. I hope that each of you who read this blog will learn a great deal of history and increase your own awareness of these explorations, so all our heart's will be filled with gratitude for these explorers. We will never travel these waters again without this new awareness. Thank you Marilyn Anderson, Colonel, US Army Retired for sharing the book, Peter Puget, with me, for it has changed my whole perspective of Peter Puget and his magnificent Sound.
Monday 4 June 2012. Skol will be launched into Puget's Sound at Zittles Marina. Weather permitting, we will begin our trip north to Blake Island on 5 June and spend the evening at Blake Island. From that vantage Point and anchorage place of the HMS Discovery on 6 June 2012.
